Summer family get away

Säfsen summer getaway.

So I'm up in Säfsen doing some work and helping the team with some ideas and back up during the Summer season.

Säfsen during the summer is an outdoors get away paradise catering for the adventourous spirit with the family in focus. A Säfsen visit during the summer months is suited to all ages with exciting and interactive positive activities for all participants.

The centrally located "Björnen" bear cafe is the starting point, here you can organise your adventure, hire your bike or boat, book your tours, pick up the keys to your chalet or relax and wind down in the Cafe.

Säfsen in southern Dalana

Säfsen is the Summer and winter recreational area located just outside Fredriksberg in the Swedish provivnce of Dalana. During winter Säfsen Alpine caters for winter sport enthusiaster and during the summer its all about getting out and enjoying the outdoors and partacking in one or many of the activities.

Säfsen is ca. 270km from Stockholm and 370km from Gothenberg, good roads allm the way make the area popular with the traveling tourists, with ample accomodation during both seasons for short and long stays make Säfsen a popular and accessable destination.

Dalana boasts some of Sweden's absoulut most picturesque countryside with strong culturel links to its past making excursions memorable and lasting.

The gate way into Fredriksberg's hembygdgård, a Hembygdgård for the uninitiated is similar to a pioneers village in other countries, these open air musuems here in Sweden tend to be older than most others in the new world, this one here in Fredriksberg isn't one of the more interactive or extensive I've visited, a five minute walk up the hill and five minutes down.

Säfsen is an long established Swedish Alpine destination, with extensive downhill and cross country skiing as well as a summer adventure activity destination. The dominating factor with Säfsens summer and winter seasons its focus on the family, being that all activities are inclusive for all ages.

Heading out in the Forest?

If you are traleling through the Swedish countryside, you can't help noticing that besides the towns, villages and farmsteads there are trees, trees and more trees and in some areas you can't see the trees for the forests.

In Säfsen you can get up close to the forests and be inspired by their tranquility and beauty.

Pick up a map from Björnen and take a hike on one of many trails around Säfsen, some are up to 20km.

Get out there and enjoy.

tranquil forests, to let your imagination flow and recharge your big city batteries.

local fauna

Both predators and prey make up the local Fauna here in Dalana, take a wilderness guided tour from Björnen and get a hands on colse encounter with nature and some background information on the different species that abound around the area. There are no garantees but if luck prevails you may sight moose, deer, roedeer, eagles, cappercallies, badgers or foxes that inhabit the local area. Larger Swedish predators like bears, wolves and wolverines are seldom seen around built up areas.

Enjoy the prolific wildlife in this area of Dalana, this red fox vixen came to visit us at the kitchen door looking no doubt for handouts for herself and her kits back in the den.
